INTRODUCTION

The place for the researchers of Sub Saharan Africa to develop and fund joint projects in Food Based Development

We have worked in the Food Processing, Nutrition and Poverty Alleviation areas for some years. Due to changes in focus we now have the opportunity to offer a number of our project ideas to partners and funders.

We would like to develop these and your ideas into projects that would involve a number of partners from Sub Saharan Africa. We see the INTERNET and email as the tools we can use to develop joint proposal concepts which can then be proposed to a large number of potential funders. Projects which attract the support of funders would then be developed into proposals that match the particular needs of the individual funder.

We are therefore piloting this website both to develop the ideas we are interested in and to test the potential of ICTs to promote the development of successful joint projects.

The project ideas are divided into six categories

  •   SMME Development

  •   Poverty Alleviation

  •   Nutrition and food safety

  •   Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) Applications

  •   Agri business

  •   Inklings - things that are not much more that a thought!

which are accessible through the menu to the left of the page. Additionally a single consolidated list is available below with links to the more detailed project idea information.

Also on the buttons to the left are links to five pages that support you in working with us through this website to develop joint contracts.

  •   Submit your idea, allows you to submit your idea for inclusion in the projects

  •   Collaborators, listing those who are interested in becoming involved in projects

  •   News, giving information on the development of the system

  •   Links, a collection of links to web resources that could be of interest

  •   Contact us, giving our contacts and subscription options
